Lorie Grooms, CMP
Lorie has14+ years experience in the event planning industry. Her career began while working for a non-profit organization, where one of her many tasks included organizing annual fundraising banquets. She soon discovered that planning banquets was most enjoyable – preparing for the event, the busy event day, welcoming guests, the excitement of the production, and the feeling of success at the close of the evening. After finding her niche, she decided to change her focus to strictly events – year round. As an independent event planner she continues to work with a variety of groups to create memorable experiences.
Lorie graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 2011, she earned her CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) accreditation from the
Outside of work, Lorie spends time volunteering as a board member of the Tough Tots Fund. She is also an active member of MPI (Meeting Professionals International - Potomac Chapter), and has served on the boards of several other non-profit organizations. Along with her husband, she competes in triathlons of varying distances (including two full Ironman races, most recently in 2019), enjoys learning about wine, and always has a craft project in the works.
